Geotechnical Solutions
This large multi-anchor shopping center in Southern California presented many challenges to the EEI geotechnical team. A historical onsite bentonite quarry was found to contain large amounts of organic materials at a depth of over 40 feet below grade, requiring substantial removals. An interior watercourse was relocated from the center of the parcel to the western side of the parcel. During extensive grading, the historic precipitation events of 2005 impacted the site, necessitating the creation of a large dam and water drainage feature. EEI's dedication and problem-solving ability on the project resulted in the GC/developer retaining EEI for over 60 additional projects for a national retailer.
